CBI arrests 2 govt officers in two separate cases of bribery

New Delhi, Oct 3 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today said that they have arrested an Auditor of the Integrated Financial Advisor (IFA), Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA), Gandhinagar (Gujarat), and the Chief Office Superintendent (O.S.), Divisional Railway Hospital, Hingoli Gate, Nanded, in two separate cases of bribery.

In the first case, they arrested Ashok Kumar Jadav, Auditor, who was accused of taking a bribe of Rs. 4 lakh (2 per cent of CCTV Air Force Pune base amount of the bid value of Rs. 2.5 crore) as undue advantage to clear the file for issuing a supply order.

The CBI laid a trap on September 30 and caught the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs. 3.5 lakh. The accused was arrested and produced before a court in Pune.

In the second case, the CBI arrested Lakshmishankar Mathuraparsad, the Chief Office Superintendent (O.S.), Divisional Railway Hospital, Hingoli Gate, Nanded, on allegations that he demanded an undue advantage of Rs 25,000 from the complainant for clearing the work of processing a pending bill of Rs. 91,576 and a performance guarantee of Rs 1.25 lakh pertaining to the housekeeping and cleaning contract of a private company where the complainant is employed. After negotiation, the accused agreed to accept a bribe of Rs. 20,000.

The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs. 20,000.

Further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
