New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended a Delhi Police Head-Constable while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs One lakh from a complainant, the agency sources said.
The central probe agency had registered an instant case in this regard on Monday against the accused head constable who is said to be with the Ashok Vihar police station, and another unknown person.
It was alleged that a Sub-Inspector (SI) and the accused HC demanded Rs 3 lakh from the complainant in lieu of not registering a First Information Report (FIR) against him.
Following the negotiation regarding the money, the accused agreed to accept the bribe amount of Rs 2 lakh from the complainant for closing a complaint pending against him.
The accused further directed the complainant to deliver the part payment of Rs One lakh to him on Monday, and accordingly based on the input, CBI laid a trap, and caught the accused HC red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe money, while he was apprehended.
Further investigation is underway in the matter, where the sleuths are gathering more information.
The stern action taken by the federal probe agency, especially against public servants, clearly underscores its commitment to curbing corruption.
The CBI has urged those citizens to report matters who come across such instances and events.
