According to a press release issued on Wednesday by the Finance Ministry, the due date for furnishing Return of Income under Section 139(1) of the Income-tax Act, 1961, has been extended from October 31, 2025, to December 10, 2025.

-Return of Income: The due date for furnishing Return of Income under Section 139(1) has been extended to December 10, 2025.
– Audit Reports: The ‘specified date’ for furnishing audit reports under the Income-tax Act, 1961, has been extended to November 10, 2025.
The extension is likely aimed at providing relief to taxpayers and professionals during the peak tax season. The CBDT regularly reviews and updates tax deadlines to ensure a smooth and efficient tax compliance process.
The extensions will provide additional time to taxpayers and professionals to file their returns and reports, reducing the likelihood of penalties and fines.
