Carry out relief work with promptness in dists hit by rain, hailstorm: Yogi

Lucknow, Apr 18 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday directed the officials of the districts concerned to conduct relief work with full promptness in view of the storm, rain and hailstorm, an official spokesman said here.

The CM has said that the officials should visit the area and conduct a survey and keep an eye on the relief work.

“In case of loss of life and animal loss due to disasters like lightning, storms and rain, immediately distribute relief amounts to the affected. The injured should be given proper treatment,” he said.

He has directed that the officials should conduct a survey and assess the crop loss and send a report to the government so that further action can be taken in this regard. He directed that in case of waterlogging, arrangements for drainage should be made as a priority.

It may be noted that around a dozen individuals were killed and several others were injured after a sudden rain and hailstorm accompanied with a dust storm hit different districts of the state on Thursday.

Police sources said that five persons were killed and four others were injured in separate incidents in Ayodhya district.

“Similarly, a woman and her nephew were killed, and her son was injured when the tin shed of a school collapsed due to rain and storm in the Zaidpur area of Barabanki district,” they said.

Police sources said that a 55-year-old farmer died after being struck by lightning in the Lalganj police station area of Basti district on Thursday evening. “A woman died after being hit by lightning in the Shukul Bazar area of Amethi district,” they said.
