Capital celebrates Children’s Day with President’s interaction, film screenings

New Delhi, Nov 14 (UNI) A group of children from various organisations and schools of the national capital visited Rashtrapati Bhavan to mark the Children’s Day. President Droupadi Murmu interacted with children and called them the future of the nation.

Children’s Day is observed annually on November 14 to honour India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. Popularly known as ‘Chacha Nehru’, he was remembered for his deep affection for children and his belief in nurturing them with care and warmth.

In a post on X, the President wrote, “On the occasion of Children’s Day, President Droupadi Murmu interacted with children from various schools and organisations at Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre.

She also shared some joyful moments with the children, as a few of them sang Vande Mataram and recited poems, the post read further.

To mark the day, a special screening of the Lily movie was organized at Akashvani Bhawan in the national capital. Chief Executive Officer of Prasar Bharati Gaurav Dwivedi said that the children must be shown content which motivates them to adopt good habits in their life with fun learning.

Meanwhile, India Autism Center also celebrated the day by organising a Sit-Down Supper and Kitchen Takeover. The event saw participation of over 30 young participants from Amrit Somani Memorial Center, Marga Wellness Studio, and WeCan Society.

Sharing details, India Autism Center’s CEO Jaishankar Natarajan said, “Children’s Day at India Autism Center is always about celebrating ability, joy, and inclusion. This year’s Sit-Down Supper and Kitchen Takeover beautifully captured that spirit, showing us what happens when you give children the freedom to express themselves and the confidence to lead.”
