Call to keep private schools closed today

  • Protest against new education policy

Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal
In a significant move, several private school organizations in Madhya Pradesh have called for a one-day closure of schools on January 30th. The protest is in response to the state government’s new recognition policy, which, according to the private school associations, is putting the survival of smaller schools at risk. These institutions, despite having limited resources, strive to provide quality education to students.

The organizations argue that if the new policy is implemented, many of these smaller schools may be forced to shut down, disrupting the education of countless students. To garner support, the private schools have urged parents to keep their children at home on January 30th and show solidarity in making the strike a success.

The protest is a message to the government that any decision affecting the education system should not jeopardize the future of children. As part of the demonstration, school operators from across the state recently submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, seeking changes to the private school recognition rules. In addition to this, school operators gathered in large numbers at the State Education Center’s office, where they raised slogans in protest.

The private school associations, including their representatives, have already appealed to the Chief Minister, the Education Minister, and local lawmakers to address their concerns and reconsider the policy that threatens the viability of small schools. The collective action aims to highlight the urgency of ensuring that educational reforms do not undermine the quality or accessibility of education in the state.
