Bhopal: Former Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Vivek Tripathi has urged the state government to immediately halt the academic session scheduled to begin in April in view of the rising heat across the state. In a letter sent to the School Education Minister, the Chief Secretary and the School Education Department, he expressed concern over the safety of schoolchildren.
Tripathi said temperatures have risen unusually since early March and are expected to intensify during April and May, increasing the risk of heatwaves. Sending young children to school in such conditions, he warned, could seriously endanger their health.
He also alleged that several private schools start sessions early to collect fees, forcing children to attend classes during extremely hot months. Many schools, particularly in rural areas, lack basic facilities such as drinking water, fans and proper ventilation.
Tripathi demanded postponing the session, introducing morning school hours if necessary, and ensuring strict monitoring by district authorities.
