Bundelkhand: The land of heroes, whose sacrifices can never be forgotten

Bhopal, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, while addressing the Kisan Maha Sammelan at the three-day cultural ‘Rahas’ fair in Gadhakota, Sagar, emphasized that Bundelkhand is the land of heroes, and the sacrifices of these heroes can never be forgotten. Giving a major gift to farmers, he announced that the government would now procure wheat from farmers at a minimum support price of Rs 2,600 per quintal. He also assured that the Sagar-Damoh road will be upgraded to a four-lane highway. During the event, Dr. Yadav distributed the benefits of various government schemes to five beneficiaries from the stage.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is committed to honouring both the jawans protecting the borders and the farmers cultivating the fields. He emphasized that the central and state governments are continuously working to double farmers’ incomes. He assured that in the coming years, lakhs of hectares of land in Bundelkhand will be irrigated. He also urged farmers to safeguard their land, assuring them that they would receive full benefits from it, leading to agricultural prosperity.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav praised the contributions of MLA and former minister Shri Gopal Bhargava, stating that his impactful work has made him an unbeatable leader for nine consecutive terms. He highlighted the government’s initiative of providing 35 percent reservation for women in government jobs, emphasizing efforts to empower them. He also lauded Shri Bhargava for setting a world record by organizing the marriages of over 21 thousand daughters. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav humorously remarked that while he was familiar with nine types of juices, he discovered a ‘10th juice’ at the Rahas Mela, describing it as an incredible experience. Announcing key benefits for farmers, he reaffirmed that the Madhya Pradesh government will purchase wheat at Rs 2,600 per quintal this year and promised to increase it to Rs 2,700 per quintal next year. Additionally, he announced a Rs 2,000 per hectare bonus on rice and assured that milk producers would also receive a bonus.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Prime Minister Shri Modi is fulfilling the dream of former Prime Minister Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee through the river-linking campaign. He highlighted that the Ken-Betwa Link Project is being implemented to benefit Bundelkhand. Additionally, he announced that a similar river-linking initiative would be launched in collaboration with the Maharashtra government to further enhance irrigation facilities.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav announced that the Madhya Pradesh government will provide a 40 percent subsidy to those setting up food industries. He emphasized that India has the largest youth population in the world. Reaffirming support for welfare schemes, he assured that initiatives like the Ladli Behna Yojana and Mukhyamantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana will continue. Pledging the comprehensive development of Sagar, he stated that continuous efforts are being made to transform the region.

Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Shri Aidal Singh Kanshana stated that Prime Minister Shri Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav are consistently working towards the welfare of farmers. He emphasized that continuous efforts are being made to double farmers’ incomes, as the prosperity of farmers directly contributes to the prosperity of the state and the nation. He also highlighted that Kisan Melas and workshops are being regularly organized to ensure that farmers receive the full benefits of government schemes.

Damoh MP Shri Rahul Singh Lodhi stated that Chief Minister Dr. Yadav’s government is continuously introducing innovative initiatives to make Madhya Pradesh a developed state. He highlighted efforts to promote industrial growth by inviting national and international investors to the Bhopal Global Investors Summit (GIS) and organizing regional industry conclaves in Bundelkhand, Jabalpur, Rewa, and Gwalior.

MLA and former minister Shri Gopal Bhargava highlighted the rich legacy of the Rahas Mela,’ a 220-year-old fair. He recalled that in 1990, the then Chief Minister, Late Shri Sundarlal Patwa, had expressed his vision to further elevate the fair. After learning about its historical significance, Shri Patwa directed efforts to make it more prosperous. Shri Bhargava emphasized that the government is actively working to revive and promote traditional fairs that are fading away. He credited the Madhya Pradesh government for its continuous efforts in making Rahas Mela grand and divine. Reaffirming his commitment, he declared, ‘Whether I am here or not, this Rahas Mela will continue forever”.

On this occasion, Minister Shri Dharmendra Singh Lodhi, MP Smt. Lata Wankhede, MLA Shri Bhupendra Singh, and other public representatives were present. The president of the fair, Shri Abhishek Deepu Bhargava, gave detailed information about the fair in his welcome speech.
