Border Security Force Academy, Tekanpur, celebrated its 58th Foundation Day on Tuesday with great enthusiasm at the academy located in Tekanpur. On this occasion, Chief Guest Additional Director and Academy Director Ravi Gandhi first paid tribute to the martyrs by laying a wreath at the Ajay Senthari Martyr Memorial.
After that, Director Ravi Gandhi took the salute of the Special Guard in the quarter guard courtyard of Academy Tekanpur. Addressing the Border Security Force personnel, Director Gandhi drew everyone’s attention to the incomparable contribution of the Academy and its training and expressed hope that the posted qualified and experienced trainers will make every possible contribution in keeping the level of training always at a high level. The Border Security Force Academy provides training to Border Security Force personnel as well as personnel of other Central Police Organizations and has a unique identity among the premier training institutes in the country.
It is significant that Border Security Force Academy was established on 1 February 1966 under the name Training Center and School and on 21 November 1966, its name was changed to Border Security Force Academy. Due to the efforts of KF Rustamji, IP (Indian Police Cadre), the founder and first Director General of Border Security Force, the Government of India had selected Tekanpur area to establish the training center of Border Security Force. Brigadier B. C. Pandey was the first Academy Head of Padmashree Academy. Initially, this force with a manpower of 25 battalions was established for the training of officers and sub-inspectors in basic and in-service courses.
