Mumbai, Sept 26 (UNI) The BSE Sensex remained on top for another session on Thursday, surging 666.25 pts to close at 85,836.12 on strong global cues.
The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange ( NSE) rose 211.90 pts at 26,216.05.
The Sensex opened in red at 85,167.56, easing 2 pts. During the day it declined 63 pts at 85,106.74, a day low.
Later, it rallied 761 pts at 85,930.43, a day high, before closing at 85,836.12, spurting 666.25 pts from its previous close.
The NSE registered days high and low at 26,250.90 and 25,998.40 pts respectively.
The stocks that glittered were Auto by 2.23 pc, Metal by 2.08 pc, BSE Commodities by 1.32 pc, and Consumer Discretionary goods and services by 0.75 pc.
The Mid-cap fell by 0.01 pc and Small-cap by 0.39 pc.
In 30 scrips, 27 advanced while 3 declined.
The gainers were Maruti Suzuki by 4.55 pc to Rs 13,357, Tata Motors by 3.08 pc to Rs 991, Bajaj Finserv by 2.58 pc to Rs 1976, M& M by 2.53 pc to Rs 3167.10 and Tata Steel by 2.29 pc to Rs 165.30.
The losers were L& T by 0.94 pc to Rs 3760.25, NTPC by 0.44 pc to Rs 434.40 and Infosys by 0.21 pc to Rs 1892.10.
Asian Market also seen strong as Hang Seng was up 3.99 pc, Taiwan Weighted by 0.43 pc and Kospi by 2.82 pc.
