Brothers, nephew held for farmer’s murder

Bhopal: In a tragic incident rooted in a land dispute, police have arrested two brothers and a nephew for the murder of their younger brother in Kachhi Barkheda, located in Bhopal’s Gunga area. The accused were produced in court on Friday and have been sent to jail.

According to Gunga police, the victim, 46-year-old Banwari Singh Thakur, was a farmer and the youngest of four brothers. The family jointly owned around 14 acres of land, which had been divided. Banwari’s mother, who lived with him, had transferred three acres of her share to him. However, his elder brothers, Bashram Singh and Bhujmal Singh, had forcibly taken possession of that land.

There had been ongoing disputes over the property. On Wednesday night, another heated argument broke out between Banwari and Bhujmal. During the altercation, Bhujmal, Bashram, and Bhujmal’s son Manish attacked Banwari with sticks and knives. Banwari was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

Gunga police station in-charge Lavanya Verma confirmed that all three accused have been arrested and, during interrogation, they confessed to the crime. They have now been sent to jail.
