Breastfeeding awareness quiz held at AIIMS

Bhopal: In celebration of World Breastfeeding Week, observed from August 1 to 7, the SMART Unit of the Department of Pediatrics at AIIMS Bhopal organized an engaging breastfeeding awareness quiz competition for mothers. This week-long initiative included group counseling sessions and various activities aimed at raising awareness about the significance of breastfeeding, proper techniques, and strategies for working mothers to maintain breastfeeding.

The quiz competition saw enthusiastic participation from mothers, with winners receiving recognition for their efforts. Throughout the event, experts shared valuable scientific and practical information regarding breastfeeding. They emphasized that breastfeeding serves as a complete and safe source of nutrition for infants, crucial for their growth and immune system development. It not only protects infants from infections but also nurtures a profound emotional bond between mother and child.

This year’s theme, “Prioritise Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems,” was highlighted by the Head of the Department of Pediatrics, who stressed that breastfeeding should be recognized as a societal priority, extending beyond personal or family responsibility. The program, which involved doctors, nursing officers, nutrition experts, and feeding demonstrators, was successfully conducted with the support of the Indian Association of Pediatrics and the Doctors for You Foundation.
