Bhopal: Koh-e-Fiza police achieved a major breakthrough in a 2023 rape case involving a minor girl. The police reported that the girl’s step-brother had assaulted her, resulting in her pregnancy and the subsequent birth of a baby girl. The survivor was just 14 years old at the time of the incident.
On September 18, 2023, the girl’s mother reported the crime, claiming that an unidentified individual had raped her mentally-challenged daughter, leading to her hospitalization. Following the registration of an FIR, the survivor gave birth to her child.
In light of the case’s gravity, Zone-3 DCP Riyaz Iqbal announced a reward of Rs 5,000 for information about the suspect. After undergoing counseling sessions, the survivor finally disclosed the identity of her assailant to female police officers, revealing that her step-brother had threatened her to keep the incident secret. The accused was arrested in Sagar and is set to appear in court soon.
