New Delhi, Dec 2 (UNI) The last week of November brought two contrasting love stories to the big screen, Gustaakh Ishq and Tere Ishq Mein. While Gustaakh Ishq leans into old-world charm, romance, poetry, and a gentle sense of nostalgia, Tere Ishq Mein dives into the darker edges of love, tracing the emotional unraveling of a heartbroken man whose grief turns destructive.
Gustaakh Ishq, starring Vijay Varma and Fatima Sana Shaikh, has struggled since its release. According to early estimates, the film collected Rs 7 lakh on Monday (day 4) with an overall occupancy of 5.8 percent, its lowest so far since debuting on November 28, 2025.
The movie opened with Rs 50 lakh on Friday, followed by Rs 45 lakh on Saturday and Rs 35 lakh on Sunday, bringing its total domestic net collection to Rs 1.37 crore. Across 2,401 shows in India, the gross collection stands at Rs 1.55 crore.
In contrast, ‘Tere Ishq Mein,’ featuring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, has maintained a strong hold at the box office. Despite a 50 percent drop on Monday, the film earned Rs 8.25 crore net, taking its total collection to Rs 60.25 crore.
While Monday proved challenging for both films, Gustaakh Ishq felt the heat from Tere Ishq Mein, struggling to make a mark in the crowded market.
‘Gustaakh Ishq’ has received appreciation for its subtle beauty. As one review notes, “Designer Manish Malhotra’s debut as a producer is gentle, though it could have taken more emotional risks. The film leaves behind traces of beauty in its poetry, music, and performances, even as the larger narrative slips through the cracks.”
“It earns quiet admiration rather than loud applause. You walk away remembering individual moments more than the whole. Perhaps that restrained, slightly unsatisfying aftertaste is exactly what defines Gustaakh Ishq,” he added.
