Bhopal: As part of the statewide ‘Booth Chalo, Gaon Chalo’ campaign being spearheaded by Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president Jeetu Patwari, Gram Panchayat Congress Committees were constituted on Friday in Thar and Ahmedpur panchayats of Vidisha district.
Addressing party workers and villagers, Patwari said that a strong Congress at the village level was essential for building a strong state. He described the campaign as a means to reinforce the organisation at the grassroots and to directly listen to the problems of the people.
The programme was attended by district Congress in-charge Prabhu Singh Thakur, district president Mohit Raghuvanshi, Vidisha Assembly in-charge Vishnu Vishwakarma, state secretaries Anand Pratap Singh and Manoj Kapoor, former MLA Nishank Jain, Sironj Assembly candidate Gagendra Raghuvanshi, and several senior leaders, office-bearers and villagers.
Addressing a kisan–mazdoor chaupal, Patwari launched a sharp attack on the BJP government, accusing it of dismantling MGNREGA, which had guaranteed employment to millions of workers, and of betraying labourers in the name of religion. Interacting with farmers, he warned that if their voices were ignored, he would not hesitate to intensify protests.
Patwari further alleged that the BJP had weakened Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of Gram Swaraj by undermining rural institutions, eroding workers’ economic security and creating doubts over voting rights through new mechanisms. He called upon Congress workers to reach every village and booth to expose the government’s anti-people policies and work relentlessly to strengthen the party.
