Book launch to celebrate Narmada Valley’s prehistoric legacy

Bhopal: Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, Bhopal, will host a special book release event on 20 June at 12 noon in the museum’s library hall. The occasion will mark the release of the book ‘Discovery of Early Man from Narmada Valley’, authored by the late Dr. Arun Sonkia. The book will be unveiled by Chief Guest Dr. Manoj Kumar Kurmi, Superintendent Archaeologist, Archaeological Survey of India, Bhopal Division.

Though Dr. Sonkia could not complete the manuscript due to his untimely demise, his daughter, Shweta Sonkia, completed it with support from archaeological and anthropological experts. The book stands as both a scholarly achievement and a touching tribute to the father-daughter bond and their shared academic passion.

Museum Director Prof. Amitabh Pandey stated that the book provides valuable insights into early human development in the Narmada Valley and marks a milestone in Indian prehistoric studies. Scholars, archaeologists, and dignitaries are invited to attend. Public Relations Officer Hemant Bahadur Singh Parihar emphasized the event’s significance in reconnecting with our cultural roots. The event is coordinated by Publication Officer Sudhir Srivastava.
