Bondi Beach Mass Shooting: Cricket Boards express shock and condolences

Sydney, Dec 15 (UNI) Cricket Australia and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) expressed shock and grief on Monday over the tragic attack at Bondi Beach, extending condolences to the victims, their families, and the Jewish community.
In a joint Instagram statement, the two cricket boards said they were “horrified by the tragic events at Bondi Beach yesterday evening” and added that their thoughts were with “the victims, their friends and families, the Jewish community, and the people of Australia at this deeply distressing time.” The statement concluded: “Our condolences go out to all those affected. We stand with you.”
Australia’s men’s captain Pat Cummins also voiced his anguish over the incident. “Absolutely devastated by the horror last night in Bondi,” Cummins wrote in an Instagram story. “My heart goes out to the victims, their families, the people of Bondi, and our Jewish community during this time.” He also urged people to donate blood if possible.
The messages came in the wake of a violent attack that unfolded at around 6:45 p.m. Sunday during an event marking the first day of Hanukkah at Archer Park, a grassy area near the beach, New South Wales Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon said. More than 1,000 people had gathered for the celebration when the attack took place.
In the mass shooting, fifteen people, including a 10-year-old girl, were killed, and a further 42 people were taken to the hospital.
