Ranchi, Mar 6 (UNI) After the Civil Court and Collectorate, the Regional Passport Office in Ranchi has received a bomb threat, prompting the police to swing into action.
According to officials, a threatening email was sent targeting the passport office located at Galaxia Mall on Ratu Road under Sukhdevnagar police station area. Unknown miscreants allegedly warned of blowing up the passport office through the email.
Soon after receiving the information, the police and district administration rushed into action. A police team led by Kotwali DSP Prakash Soy, along with the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), reached the spot and started an investigation.
The police and BDS personnel conducted a thorough search inside the passport office at Galaxia Mall and in the surrounding areas. Every room, the office premises, and nearby locations were carefully inspected. However, no suspicious object has been recovered so far during the search.
DSP Soy said that the situation is currently normal, but security has been tightened as a precautionary measure.
Meanwhile, the police have begun examining the email through which the threat was issued. The cyber team has also been alerted to trace the sender. Officials said efforts are being made through technical investigation to identify the origin and sender of the email.
