BMC rejects allegations over voter list dates

Mumbai, Nov 24 (UNI) The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) today firmly rejected allegations, regarding discrepancies in the dates mentioned on the draft voter list for the upcoming general elections, asserting that all claims circulating in this regard are baseless and contrary to established facts.

The administration emphasised that the entire procedure was carried out with complete transparency and in strict accordance with the instructions issued by the State Election Commission, leaving no scope for irregularities.

According to the BMC, the State Election Commission had originally scheduled November 14, 2025, as the date for publication of the draft voter list. Following this schedule, the civic body received the draft list from the commission, and the document was dated November 14. However, the commission subsequently issued a revised timetable directing the BMC to publish the draft list on November 20, 2025, instead of the earlier date.

The administration clarified that although the printed copies of the draft list carried the November 14 date, these copies were never uploaded onto the BMC’s official website nor were they distributed to the public or any political party by the municipal election department.

Officials stressed that the final draft voter list was officially released on November 20 in full compliance with the revised instructions of the election commission.

The BMC stated that the objections and doubts now being raised over the dates on the draft list arise from a misinterpretation of the administrative process. The civic body reiterated that every step was executed in line with the directives issued by the commission and that the allegations being levelled are unfounded and entirely inconsistent with the actual facts.
