New Delhi, Jan 15 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Lehar Singh Siroya on Wednesday criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his remark that the Congress is “fighting the Indian state.”
In a scathing remark, he drew parallels between Gandhi’s comments and Naxal ideologies, accusing the Congress of endorsing anti-state sentiments.
“Shri Rahul Gandhi has come back from his foreign holiday and has said that @INCIndia is fighting the Indian state. We should thank him for confirming the suspicion. So far, we thought only Naxalites were fighting the Indian state. By saying what he has said today, he has indirectly made every Congress worker a Naxalite or a Maoist or an Urban Naxal,” Siroya said in a statement posted on X.
Taking a swipe at Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the BJP MP referred to the state government’s alleged favourable treatment of surrendered Naxals. “We’ll have to now use Shri Siddaramaiah’s ‘generous’ Naxal package to bring them back to the mainstream. Recently, surrendered Naxals were treated like VIPs in the Karnataka CM’s office,” he added.
Siroya further questioned the legitimacy of Congress-ruled state governments, suggesting that they should be dismissed if the party is indeed “fighting the Indian state.” “How can they continue in government and fight the Indian state?” he remarked.
The remarks have sparked a political uproar, with Congress leaders yet to respond to the allegations. Rahul Gandhi’s statement comes amidst heightened political tensions ahead of crucial state elections later this year.
