Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) protest Ghantanaad Andolan against Congress-led Madhya Pradesh Government on various issues started on Wednesday with the slogan ‘Madhya Pradesh Bachao-Congress Sarkar Bhagao’ at all the district headquarters of the State on September 11.
Party workers staged gherao at Collectorate office of all district headquarters across the State and made efforts to awake Government from slumber by playing bell and other instruments like ‘Manjire’. BJP has given responsibility of leadership to various party workers and leaders for this protest. National Vice President and former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Vidisha, National Vice President and MP Prabhat Jha in Sagar and State President and MP Rakesh Singh and Sadhvi Pragya Singh led the ‘andolan’ in State capital.
In Indore, the activists led by the city president Gopikrishna Nema and Khandwa MP and former BJP state president Nandkumar Singh Chauhan surrounded the collectorate. A large number of workers from all the assemblies reached Harsiddhi and marched from there to the Collectorate.
Due to the advance information of the agitation, a large number of cops were deployed. Barricades were erected to stop the mob at the main gate, but activists clashed with the police and tried to jump the barricades. When the main gate was closed, the workers tried to break it, after which some activists climbed over the main gate and shouted slogans against the state government showing the bat to the police administration.
Hundreds of activists were arrested, including Rakesh Singh. Earlier, addressing the party workers Rakesh Singh said corruption was at peak after Congress came to power in the state. Even the ministers were leveling allegations against senior party leaders, he added.
