BJP alleges Cong–CPI(M) deal to protect Rahul Mamkootathil

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 3 (UNI) BJP Kerala State General Secretary M.T. Ramesh has accused both the Congress and the CPI(M) of jointly protecting Rahul Mamkootathil, alleging a covert political deal between the two rival parties to stall action in the case.
Addressing the media, Ramesh criticized the police for failing to register a case or arrest Mamkootathil despite the availability of audio evidence and other supporting documents.
“Rahul Mamkootathil is not missing; the police have known his whereabouts for four days but did not arrest him. Why was the arrest delayed until a bail petition was produced in court? Action should have been taken immediately upon receiving the complaint,” he questioned.
Ramesh also raised concerns over the non-arrest of a Congress member allegedly involved in aiding Rahul Mamkootathil. He claimed that the CPI(M) is using the Mamkootathil case as a diversion from other controversies, including the Sabarimala issue and the recent gold theft case, to shift public attention and undermine opposition scrutiny.
On the party’s strategy for the upcoming local body elections, Ramesh emphasized BJP’s focus on development, contrasting it with what he described as stagnation under the ruling LDF and UDF.
Responding to questions about India hosting future Olympics, he hinted at Thiruvananthapuram as a potential venue and asserted that BJP would provide decisive leadership if it comes to power in 2036.
Regarding the Special Investment Regions (SIR) policy, Ramesh clarified that it is a central government initiative and questioned how state political parties plan to engage with it, noting that the central government has expressed willingness to discuss the matter in Parliament.
Ramesh urged authorities to conduct a transparent investigation and criticized what he termed “a nexus between ruling parties” aimed at compromising justice in politically sensitive cases.
