BJP accuses Congress, RJD of fabricating ‘vote theft’ narrative

New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) Ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, the BJP today slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav of spreading false allegations of “vote theft” in the state.

BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said Congress and RJD workers at the booth level have not filed any appeal against the implementation of the Systematic Identification of Registered Voters (SIR) in Bihar, thereby exposing the alleged misinformation spread by their two leaders.

Addressing the media here, Bhandari asserted that the Opposition leaders’ claims were baseless and that their own party workers in 38 districts of Bihar have refuted these allegations by not filing any objections after the publication of the updated voter list under the SIR.

Bhandari further alleged that the Congress party’s opposition to the SIR was motivated by a desire to protect infiltrators, pointing to a racket for creating fake votes reportedly operating in Telangana. He maintained that the people of Bihar stood with the BJP and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), while the opposition was accused of colluding with infiltrators.

The BJP spokesperson also targeted the Gandhi-Wadra family, referring to them as Pakistan’s ‘A team’, and criticised the former Congress president Sonia Gandhi for the government’s failure to take decisive action against Pakistan following the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks (26/11).

Bhandari claimed that then Home Minister P Chidambaram, Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee, and the Indian armed forces were inclined to retaliate militarily against Pakistan, but international pressure prevented such action.

Citing a book penned by former Foreign Secretary Shankar Menon, the BJP spokesperson said that despite the desire to launch an attack, the UPA government refrained from doing so. He urged the public to hold the Gandhi-Wadra family accountable for inaction.

Bhandari also challenged Chidambaram to reveal who within the UPA government prevented the Indian Army and Air Force from retaliating after the 26/11 attacks. He added that Sonia Gandhi, who wielded considerable influence within the government at the time, must also answer this question.
