In Van Vihar National Park Bhopal, with the support of Madhya Pradesh Eco Tourism Development Board, one day bird watching and nature camps are being organized for the students of government schools of Bhopal city and its surrounding villages with a view to develop awareness among students about forests, wildlife and environment and sensitivity towards nature conservation.
On Tuesday, 61 students and 6 teachers of Government Secondary School Gondarmau Gandhinagar, Bhopal participated in the said bird watching and nature camp. Dr. S.R. Waghmare, Assistant Deputy Forest Conservator and Vijay Nandvanshi were present as resource persons in the program. Subject experts conducted interesting activities related to bird watching, butterfly, wildlife viewing, information about forestry activities present at the site, forest, wildlife and environment for the participants and their curiosity was satisfied by providing information about snakes. Tiger, leopard were also viewed in the nature camp. Wild animals like bear, crocodile, gharial, chital, sambhar, nilgai etc. were also observed.
Along with this, birds like king fisher, open bill stork, woolly necked stork, corporal, jakana, coot etc. were seen and artificial nests and effigies of birds were also seen. On this occasion, the participants present took an oath to save the environment under Mission Life and detailed information about Mission Life was provided by the experts. During bird watching and nature camp, Director Van Vihar Meena Awadheshkumar Shivkumar along with other officers and employees were present.
