Biden’s chief of staff to testify as part of ex-President’s mental decline probe – Reports

Washington,July 2 (UNI) Former White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain and several other top aides of former US President Joe Biden have agreed to testify as part of an investigation into Biden’s cognitive health, Politico reported.

Klain is scheduled for an interview with the House Oversight Committee on July 24, Politico said on Tuesday.

Biden’s former senior adviser Mike Donilon and former counselor to the president Steve Ricchetti will testify later this month.

Another former senior advisor, Anita Dunn, and Biden’s deputy chief of staff Bruce Reed are scheduled for interviews with the committee in August, Politico said.

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is investigating claims that there was a cover-up of Biden’s mental decline during his term in office.

On May 21, Republican Sen. Ron Johnson told Axios that he was launching a probe into the White House handling of Biden’s health. Later that month, US Congressman Buddy Carter initiated a bill providing for the establishment of a congressional investigators’ panel to investigate the former president’s health decline and possible withholding of this information from the public.

On May 18, Biden’s personal office said that the 82-year-old had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that metastasized to his bones.

The former president had to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race and make way for fellow Democrat Kamala Harris amid concerns about his mental health.
