Bhopal: A fierce bidding war broke out at the Shahjahanabad police station today during the auction of vehicles seized in various cases, underscoring intense public interest in acquiring official property.
Held under strict police supervision, the auction featured a total of 20 two-wheelers and one four-wheeler. The excitement peaked as the final bids dramatically exceeded expectations. A pool of vehicles, which began the day with a collective initial bid of Rs 1 lakh, ultimately fetched a staggering total of Rs 3,00,500.
The transparent auction was conducted in the presence of senior officers, including DCP Abhinav Chowk and multiple ACPS and the Station House Officer, ensuring strict adherence to protocol. Police sources confirmed the vehicles were older seizures being disposed of under government mandates.
Authorities hailed the auction as a model of administrative transparency. Furthermore, officials announced that similar auctions are slated for other city police stations soon, aiming to clear impounded vehicles and free up crucial space. The successful sale highlights a proactive approach to clearing police inventories.
