Bhopal Police conducts riot control drill

  • Security preparations for upcoming festivals

Bhopal – In preparation for upcoming festivals like Anant Chaturdashi, Dol Gyaras, and Milad-un-Nabi, Bhopal’s police force conducted a comprehensive riot control mock drill at the Police Lines. The exercise, which involved approximately 500 police personnel, was designed to ensure peace, security, and law and order during the festive season.

Led by Deputy Police Commissioners Shraddha Tiwari and Neetu Thakur, the drill simulated a protest by farmers demanding compensation. The exercise began with police officers attempting to de-escalate the situation and engage in dialogue with the “protestors.” However, as the crowd became agitated and began throwing stones, police escalated their response.

The drill progressed through several stages, including issuing warnings and deploying tear gas and water cannons. When the “protestors” continued to damage public property, the police were given the order to use a controlled lathi charge to disperse the crowd. The exercise concluded with a simulated firing incident to stop the out-of-control mob, resulting in mock injuries to both protestors and police officers, who were then treated by a medical team.

The drill aimed to train officers to manage volatile situations, protect themselves, and maintain public order. It also tested the force’s readiness and equipment, including over 150 tear gas shells, water cannons, and Vajra and Rudra vehicles.
