Bhopal Metro trial begins at 90 kmph

  • PM may inaugurate by Nov

Bhopal: The trial run of the Bhopal Metro has commenced at a speed of 90 kmph, covering the entire 6.22 km stretch from Subhash Nagar to AIIMS. This is the same speed expected during its commercial operations. To expedite the testing process, the number of metro trips has also been increased.

Simultaneously, rapid progress is being made on completing unfinished work at metro stations—particularly at AIIMS, Alkapuri, and DRM Tiraha. Entry and exit infrastructure at these stations is being developed on priority. Authorities have set a September deadline to complete all pending work.\

Following this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the Bhopal Metro either in October or November. Earlier, he had virtually inaugurated the Indore Metro on May 31.

Technical testing in two stages

Technical testing for the Bhopal Metro will be carried out in two stages. Preparations are in full swing for the completion of depot work, entry-exit points, civil construction, systems, rolling stock, signaling, traffic management, and both internal and external station works.

Once construction and internal works are completed, the Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO) will conduct a comprehensive technical inspection. All necessary documents for this phase have already been submitted. After RDSO’s clearance, the final inspection will be done by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS).

Only after receiving a satisfactory report from CMRS will passenger services officially begin on the Bhopal Metro line.
