Bhopal installs India’s first CoroFlow system

  • Technology detects ‘Invisible’ micro vascular heart disease

Bhopal,  Indian cardiac diagnostics achieved a new milestone today with the installation of the Coroventis CoroFlow Cardiovascular System—the first documented clinical installation in the country—by senior interventional cardiologist Dr. Pankaj Manoria.

Dr. Manoria highlighted the system’s significance, stating that traditional angiography can only visualize large arteries, often failing to explain persistent angina in patients with seemingly “normal” angiograms. “CoroFlow fills that diagnostic gap by measuring microvascular flow and resistance inside the tiny coronary vessels,” he explained. This advanced invasive technology provides accurate, quantifiable data to confirm microvascular dysfunction.

London-based cardiologist Dr. Sundeep Kalra, who assisted with the training, called the installation a “transformational step for Indian cardiology.” He noted that microvascular angina—a condition prevalent among women and patients with unexplained chest pain—is often severely underdiagnosed globally.

The CoroFlow system measures advanced parameters (like FFR, CFR, and IMR), bringing much-needed diagnostic clarity to patients whose symptoms remain unexplained by conventional methods. With this achievement, Bhopal now joins an elite group of global centres equipped for world-class microvascular assessment.
