- Two arrested in Mandsaur
Bhopal: The Bhopal Cyber Crime Team has cracked a major online fraud case, arresting two suspects from Mandsaur involved in a Rs 10 lakh investment scam. The victim was allegedly duped of Rs 9,91,900 after being lured by a fraudulent investment scheme through the “M-Stock” app. Investigations revealed that the arrested duo operated as a crucial link for a larger syndicate, specializing in opening bank accounts and selling them to cybercriminals across the country to facilitate money laundering and digital theft.
Acting on sophisticated technical analysis, the police seized two mobile phones and SIM cards used in these illicit transactions. Preliminary probes suggest these accounts were used to siphon funds from multiple victims across various states. Shailendra Singh Chauhan, Additional DCP, Crime Branch Bhopal, emphasized that the hunt for other gang members is ongoing. He issued a stern warning to citizens to remain vigilant against “task frauds” and suspicious investment links. “Always verify the legitimacy of a platform before committing your hard-earned money,” he cautioned, as the department works to trace the full extent of the syndicate’s operations.
