Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal
After three years, the capital Bhopal has once again got an air connection with Pune. After 24-hour flight operations started from Raja Bhoj Airport, IndiGo launched the first late night flight in the form of Pune Udaan. The first flight was welcomed with a water salute at midnight at Raja Bhoj Airport. The new summer schedule also came into effect on Sunday.
Air India stopped flying the Pune route three years ago and passengers have been demanding a direct flight long since. Recently, Raja Bhoj Airport was included in the list of selected airports of the country where flights can operate 24 hours a day. Through this facility, IndiGo has added the Pune connection. On the first day, 149 passengers reached Bhopal by this flight. 79 passengers from Bhopal left for Pune. The flight schedule is not convenient for passengers. Despite this, passengers have shown enthusiasm.
It is clear that Bhopal was in dire need of this flight. According to airport officials, more late night flights can start in the next three to six months.
MP Alok Sharma and Executive Airport Director Alok Tripathi welcomed the passengers going to Pune by the first flight by giving them roses. The passengers looked happy. The passengers coming to Bhopal were also welcomed.
Now waiting for Kolkata and Goa
It was previously announced flights would start to Kolkata and Goa in the winter schedule season. But bookings have not opened yet. Passengers are now waiting for flights to these two cities to start. MP Sharma said that Kolkata flights will also start from next month. Flights will also start from Bhopal to Datia and Neemuch.
