- Celebrates Environmental Awareness Month
Bhopal, In observance of World Environment Day, BHEL Bhopal launched its “Environmental Awareness Month” under the theme “Ending Global Plastic Pollution” to reignite employees’ commitment to environmental sustainability. A series of programs and competitions will be held throughout the month as part of the initiative.
The event began with Shri Pradeep Kumar Upadhyay, General Manager & Head of BHEL Bhopal, leading the “Environmental Protection Pledge” ceremony, which was administered to all General Managers, employees, and officers. He urged everyone to adopt eco-friendly habits, stressing that environmental consciousness should be practiced not only individually but also within families and communities.
To further spread the message, the pledge was also administered to CISF employees at their respective workplaces, marked by a siren to amplify the impact.
The day continued with a tree plantation drive near Jamboori Ground in BHEL’s township area, with the participation of General Managers, officers, employees from the HSE, Township, and Human Resources Departments, as well as CISF personnel and Union officials.
Throughout the Environmental Awareness Month, a variety of activities will take place, including workshops on Green BHEL and energy conservation, awareness programs on plastic elimination in local haat-bazaars and residential areas, tree planting initiatives, and competitions on environmental themes. These initiatives aim to foster environmental awareness among BHEL employees and their families, with all programs organized jointly by the Health, Safety, and Environmental Engineering Department and the Township Department.
