BHEL marks International Women’s Day

Bhopal: The Women in Public Sector (WIPS) Forum of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Bhopal, celebrated International Women’s Day with enthusiasm on Saturday, highlighting the importance of women’s empowerment and leadership in society and organisations.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and worship of Goddess Saraswati. The chief guest on the occasion was P.K. Upadhyay, Executive Director (HEP), BHEL Bhopal. Among the distinguished guests were Rosie Upadhyay, Chairperson of the BHEL Ladies Club, Bhopal; Sangeeta Ramnathan; and T.U. Singh, General Manager (HR). The keynote address was delivered by Gunjan Varshney, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax. Several senior officials, including general managers, department heads and WIPS members, were also present.

Welcoming the dignitaries, guests and participants, Dr Pomila Sachdev, Unit Coordinator of WIPS BHEL Bhopal, emphasised the forum’s commitment to encouraging women’s participation and leadership.

In her address, Gunjan Varshney highlighted the significant role of women in society and encouraged participants to support and uplift one another. She also spoke about the International Women’s Day theme and stressed the importance of inclusive leadership and collective progress.

P.K. Upadhyay noted that women play a vital role in driving positive change and contribute significantly to nation-building across organisations.

The programme concluded with the distribution of prizes for competitions organised by WIPS. Namrata Jaiswal, WIPS Secretary and Manager (HR–Law), delivered the vote of thanks.
