Bhopal: In a brief ceremony at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Bhopal, Pradeep Kumar Upadhyay, General Manager & Head, flagged off the bottom shaft manufactured for Unit-1 of the Polavaram Hydro Power Plant Project.
The event was attended by senior officials including Vikas Khare, General Manager (EM); Rupesh Telang, General Manager (Feeder & Transformer); GP Baghel, General Manager (Quality); Alok Sengar, General Manager (Fabrication); J Chatterjee, General Manager (Hydro); Naresh Singh, Additional General Manager (EM), along with officers and employees of the HGM department.
The bottom shaft, weighing approximately 62 metric tonnes, is the heaviest hydro generator shaft manufactured to date. All machining work was carried out in the Block-2 machine shop of the HGM department.
The Polavaram Hydro Power Plant, a 960 MW project on the Godavari River in Andhra Pradesh, will house the largest hydro generator ever manufactured by BHEL.
