Kolkata, Nov 15 (UNI) India captain Shubman Gill has suffered a neck spasm during the morning session of Day 2 of the first Test against South Africa and is currently being monitored by the BCCI medical team.
He has not yet been ruled out of the Test, with a decision on his participation to be made based on his recovery.
Gill slog-swept a delivery for four over square leg off just the third ball of his innings, but immediately after completing the shot, he grabbed his neck, showing clear signs of discomfort. The physio was called in before Gill walked off the field for further assessment.
India’s innings is similar to South Africa’s. Both teams had a highest partnership of 57. Only one batter from each team crossed 30s. Similarly, three batters on both sides scored between 20 and 29. India slid from 153 for 4 to 189 for 9 (all out, in this instance).
