Mumbai, Aug 22 (UNI) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today invited applications for positions on its Senior Men’s, Women’s and Junior Men’s Selection Committees, setting in motion the process of restructuring the national selection panels.
Two vacancies have been announced in the Senior Men’s Selection Committee. The members appointed will be entrusted with the responsibility of selecting Team India (Senior Men) across formats — Tests, One-Day Internationals, Twenty20 Internationals, and any other format determined by the BCCI.
Applicants must have played a minimum of seven Test matches, or 30 First-Class matches, or alternatively 10 One-Day Internationals and 20 First-Class matches. Candidates should have retired from all forms of cricket at least five years prior to application. They must not have served as members of any Cricket Committee of the BCCI for a cumulative period of five years.
The board has also opened applications for positions in the Women’s Selection Committee, which will be tasked with choosing Team India (Senior Women) for bilateral and multi-nation tournaments, ICC events, and other formats as may be notified.
Similarly, vacancies have been announced in the Junior Men’s Selection Committee, responsible for overseeing talent identification and selection for India’s U-19 and other junior-level squads. These committees play a vital role in nurturing the pipeline of talent feeding into the senior national teams.
The BCCI said the deadline for applications and the detailed criteria for Women’s and Junior Men’s selectors will be provided on its official website.
This move comes as part of the board’s regular exercise to refresh its selection panels, ensuring that Indian cricket continues to benefit from the experience and expertise of former players.
