Colombo, Oct 2 (UNI) Bangladesh Women were unstoppable as they dismantled Pakistan Women by seven wickets in the third match of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 at R Premadasa Stadium today.
From the first ball to the last, it was a clinical performance that left Pakistan chasing shadows.
Electing to bat, Pakistan Women struggled from the outset. Marufa Akter made an immediate statement, removing Omaima Sohail and Sidra Amin in her opening over. Nishita Akter Nishi and Rabeya Khan kept the pressure, and Shorna Akter mopped up the tail. Fatima Sana’s 22 was a lone fight, but Pakistan never built a partnership, folding for 129 in 38.3 overs.
Bangladesh’s chase? A masterclass in timing and composure. Rubya Haider made her ODI debut count with a classy 54 not out, while Sobhana Mostary’s aggressive strokeplay (24*) finished the job with authority.
Nigar Sultana added a crucial 23 before falling, but by then, the match was slipping from Pakistan’s fingers. Boundaries flowed freely, Mostary punished every loose delivery, and Haider’s cuts and drives opened the floodgates.
Bangladesh chased down 130 in just 31.1 overs, winning with 47 balls to spare. With bat and ball in perfect harmony, they sent a statement to the tournament: this is a team to watch. Pakistan, meanwhile, will have to regroup fast — there’s no time to lick wounds in a World Cup.
