New Delhi, Sep 27 (UNI) Union Ayush Minister Prataprao Jadhav on Friday said that special medical stores for Ayush medicine will be established at the tehsil level across the country to provide pure and authentic medicines for Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy and other Indian traditional medical systems.
Giving details of the 100-day achievements of the Ministry, Jadhav said that the issue of non-availability of Ayush medicines is coming to the fore in remote parts of the country. To deal with this, Government has come up with a plan to open Ayush medicine centres at tehsil level across the country.
These will be in both urban and rural areas. The first Ayush medicine centre will be opened on October 9 at the All India Institute of Ayurveda in the national capital.
He said that these Ayush centres will provide pure and authentic medicines. These centres will be opened with public-private partnership.
The Minister said that there are number of Vaidyas in remote areas of the country who are providing better medical services, despite the fact that they lack formal education. The government plans to certify and legalise such Vaidyas.
Jadhav said that such Vaidyas will be given a chance to authenticate their medical treatment methods and medicines and if their claims are found to be true then the government will help them in getting it patented.
Besides, agreements will also be made with established companies to use medical systems of such Vaidyas on a large scale.
He also informed that the process of including Ayush treatment in Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) is in the final stage. It will be completed soon and about 150 treatment procedures have been standardised.
Jadhav said that the Ministry of Ayush is working on a large scale with the World Health Organization to disseminate Ayurveda globally. Work is underway to integrate India’s traditional medical systems into the global health system and build a strong foundation for evidence-based traditional medicine.
India and Vietnam have also signed an MoU for cooperation in the field of medicinal plants. The objective of this agreement is to promote research, exchange of resources and information on medicinal plants. Besides, India has also signed an agreement with Malaysia on Ayurveda to promote traditional medicine, the Minister said.
