Mumbai, Feb 21 (UNI) Director Sanjay Gupta has confirmed that the screenplay for ‘Kaabil 2’ is complete and ready to go into production, pending approval from Hrithik Roshan and Rakesh Roshan.
The original 2017 film, produced under the banner of FilmKraft Productions, proved to be a commercial triumph despite its high-profile box-office clash with ‘Raees’, starring Shah Rukh Khan.
Sanjay said he is ready with the ‘Kaabil 2’ script and it will go on floors after he gets the green signal from Hrithik and Rakesh Roshan.
“I just want to tell that as a director and a writer, I’m fully ready. The minute I get a green signal from Roshans, we’re good to go. I have the script for “Kaabil 2″ and when they feel it is the right time, we’ll make it,” he confirmed to Variety India.
In ‘Kaabil’, Hrithik Roshan delivered a nuanced performance as a visually impaired dubbing artist who embarks on a relentless quest for retribution following the tragic death of his wife, portrayed by Yami Gautam. The film struck a chord with audiences and successfully crossed the ₹100 crore milestone at the domestic box office.
“Kaabil” also featured Ronit Roy, Rohit Roy, Akhilendra Mishra, Narendra Jha, Suresh Menon and Girish Kulkarni in prominent roles.
The music for the film was composed by Rajesh Roshan and the screenplay was written by Vijay Kumar Mishra.
Sanjay Gupta’s last project was “The Miranda Brothers,” featuring Harshvardhan Rane and Meezaan Jafri. The sports drama premiered in 2024 on JioCinema.
