Australia Women opt to field against India

Visakhapatnam, Oct 12 (UNI) Australia Women won the toss and elected to field against India Women in the ongoing Women’s ODI clash at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium here today.

India Women have retained the same playing XI from their previous match, with Harmanpreet Kaur leading the side. “The pitch looks better than what we had in the last game. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. It’s about how you bounce back. We were in the game for 95 overs last time, and there are lots of positives to take,” said Harmanpreet.

She added that the constant support from fans had been “the biggest part of our lives” and remained a motivating factor for the team.

Australia Women, led by Alyssa Healy, have made one change to their lineup, with Sophie Molineux returning and Wareham missing out. Healy, speaking ahead of the match, said, “We’re going to bowl. It got a bit dewy while training last evening, so hopefully we can slide on the bat. When you come up against a really good opposition like India, you need to put everything together. It’s my first time back in Vizag since 2011 and the atmosphere should be great. The girls are pumped for that.”

The Australia squad includes notable players like Phoebe Litchfield, Ellyse Perry, Beth Mooney, Annabel Sutherland, Ashleigh Gardner, Tahlia McGrath, Kim Garth, Alana King, and Megan Schutt.

The Indian team features Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh, Amanjot Kaur, Sneh Rana, Kranti Gaud, and Shree Charani alongside their captain and experienced campaigners.

With both teams boasting a mix of experience and youth, the match promises a competitive contest in front of a lively Vizag spectators.
