Astonished to hear about wad of cash from my seat: Singhvi

New Delhi, Dec 6 (UNI) Rajya Sabha member and senior Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Friday said he was “astonished” to hear that a wad of cash was found in the House from the seat assigned to him and found it “bizarre that even on such issues politics is raised”.

Talking to reporters, the senior Supreme Court lawyer gave a sequence of his presence in Parliament.

He said that on Thursday, he was present in the House for just three minutes. “I entered the House at 12.57 pm and after three minutes the House rose”.

He further said, “From 1 pm to 1:30 pm, I sat with Ayodhya Prasad in the canteen in Sangam and had lunch and after that at 1:30, I left the Parliament”.

Singhvi said he was shocked that politics was being raised on such an issue.

Seeking an inquiry as to how people can come and put anything anywhere in any seat, Singhvi said everybody should cooperate in getting to the bottom of this and if there is a failing in the party of security agencies then it must also be completely exposed.

He said if such an incident has happened, each member must have a seat where it can be locked and the key can be carried home by the MP as anybody can do anything on the seat and make allegations.

It may be mentioned that the Rajya Sabha on Friday morning witnessed brief disruptions after a wad of cash was found in the House from the seat assigned to Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi. Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar informed the members about the incident and said that an investigation was underway in the matter.
