Ashta-Ranipura water project brings new hope to rural Sehore

Sehore: The Ashta-Ranipura Group Water Supply Project in Sehore district is set to emerge as a landmark achievement, transforming the lives of thousands of rural families. Being implemented at a cost of Rs 1,478 crore under the Jal Jeevan Mission, the project is more than a development initiative—it represents a lasting solution to the long-standing problem of safe drinking water in rural areas.

Once completed, the scheme will provide tap water connections to 91,972 households across 719 villages. The project has already achieved 62 percent physical progress, with major components nearing completion. These include 65 percent of the intake wall, 70 percent of the water treatment plant, and 175 out of 245 overhead tanks. Additionally, three of the five intermediate pumping stations are complete, and over 2,200 km of the planned pipeline network has been laid.

Strong administrative monitoring, coordinated efforts by the Madhya Pradesh Water Corporation, and active participation of village-level water committees have ensured steady progress. Upon completion, the project will reduce the burden on women and children, improve health, boost school attendance, and usher in a new era of socio-economic development in the region.
