Lucknow, Feb 12 (UNI) The issue of Artificial Intelligence (AI) resonated in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly today, with members expressing serious concern over its misuse.
To this, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna assured of action after discussing the matter with legal experts.
Raised the issue under Rule 300 in the House during Zero Hour, Samajwadi Party (SP) member Atul Pradhan demanded that the government take action.
He said that AI could prove to be a dangerous technology, potentially subject to misuse. Sharing his experience, he said that some people from an agency came to him and claimed that they could deliver his speech to the public by imitating his voice and face without his presence.
Pradhan said that while his voice and face can be broadcast in a positive context, they can also be misused. He complained to the SSP of his district, but no concrete action has been taken so far.
On this, Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana described the issue as serious, stating that AI could have a greater impact, particularly on those involved in the political field. He urged the Parliamentary Affairs Minister to address this issue and expressed the need for strict action on complaints.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sures Khanna stated that the central government has enacted a law regarding AI. He stated that further action will be taken after discussing the matter with legal experts.
Earlier, State IT Minister Sunil Sharma presented the government’s position in the House.
This discussion in the House underscored the need for serious discussion on the misuse of emerging technologies like AI and the legal implications associated with it.
