Argentine president appoints new foreign minister

Buenos Aires, Oct. 24 (UNI) Argentine President Javier Milei has appointed economist Pablo Quirno as foreign minister, the president’s office announced on Thursday.
Quirno will replace incumbent Foreign Minister Gerardo Werthein, who “has submitted his resignation, effective Monday, Oct. 27,” the office said in a press release.
Quirno is currently secretary of finance and “a key member of the economic team that managed to avert the biggest crisis in the country’s history and a fundamental part of the construction of the Argentine miracle,” it said.
