Washington, Oct 23 (UNI) The fight for the post of US president between Vice President Kamala Harris and her Republican rival Donald Trump remains extremely tense and does not yet allow for a clear favorite to be identified, a poll conducted by research company SSRS for the CNN broadcaster showed.

Harris is supported by 48% of voters across the country, while 47% of respondents are ready to vote for Trump, the report said on Tuesday. Among independent voters, Harris is ahead of Trump by a small margin – 45% to 41%. The majority of female independent voters support Harris – 51% to 36%, while the majority of male independent voters prefer Trump (47% to 40%), the report added.

At the same time, 55% of young voters under 30 also support Harris, while only 38% are ready to vote for Trump, the poll said.

In addition, 12% of respondents reportedly admitted they could still change their minds.

The poll was conducted from September 19-22 and surveyed 2,000 people.
