All India Muslim Festival Committee appeals to lift ban on Open Meetings during Eid at Bhopal Central Jail

Bhopal: A 7-member delegation led by Danish Khan, National President of the All India Muslim Festival Committee, visited the Central Jail Headquarters to submit a memorandum. The delegation included committee members Shamshul Hassan Balli, Tariq Sharif Sahib, Sheikh Ismail, Akil Ansari, Asad Pathan, Sikandar Ali Khan, and Zeeshan Khan. They urged the removal of restrictions on traditional open meetings during Eid at the Bhopal Central Jail.

Khan explained that the All India Muslim Festival Committee had learned that the jail authorities had imposed a ban on traditional open meetings during Eid. In response, the committee submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, as well as to the Director General of Police (Jail). Khan expressed gratitude to PM Modi for his thoughtful gesture of sending aid kits to the impoverished Muslim families during Eid.

The memorandum emphasized that festivals are about unity and sharing happiness. It questioned why inmates, who have been in jail for years, particularly those awaiting trial, should be denied the right to meet their families during Eid. Many parents and children eagerly await the opportunity to reunite during such occasions. Khan urged the authorities to reconsider the ban, stressing that denying inmates this opportunity violates their fundamental rights and harms their families’ emotional well-being.
