- Number of air passengers from Bhopal crosses 4000
- Passenger load reaches 80%
Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal
Despite limited flights from the capital Bhopal, the number of air passengers is increasing continuously. Airline companies consider monsoon as the off season, but currently more than four thousand passengers are traveling every day. This has excited the airport authority along with the airline companies. The authority hopes that both flights and passengers will increase in the winter season.
There was a time when the number of flights from Bhopal was less than half a dozen. There was direct connection only to Delhi and Mumbai. Currently, apart from Delhi and Mumbai, there is direct connectivity to Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Raipur, Prayagraj, Lucknow and Udaipur. Passengers have got relief due to 16 flights to 10 cities. However, the number of flights is still less as per the air connectivity of metros. There is not a single flight to cities like Pune, Goa, Amritsar, Dehradun, Tirupati and Chennai, despite this, the increasing number of passengers is encouraging the airline companies. Passenger load is of great importance for airline companies. Booking more than 50 percent seats is a profitable deal for the companies. This time in the summer season, the companies got 80 to 90 percent passenger load. Even in the monsoon, 75 to 80 percent of seats being booked is considered a good sign for the increase in air traffic in the future.
Flights will increase in the winter schedule
The airport authority hopes that seeing the enthusiasm of the passengers, at least four new flights will start in the winter schedule starting from October. Air India Express can start the base station by the end of this year. In this regard, the airport director says that more passengers than expected are traveling in the monsoon, which is a good sign. Air connectivity is sure to increase in the future. Airlines are also excited about new flights. Air India and Indigo are going to get new planes. Some of these planes are expected to operate from Bhopal. More than five thousand passengers can travel daily in winter.
