Hyderabad, Dec 3 (UNI) The All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), a friendly party of the ruling BRS, retained all the seven seats out of contested nine assembly constituencies during the counting of votes on Sunday.
Sitting MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi, younger brother of AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, won with a majority of 81,467 votes from his Chandrayangutta segment and all other political parties lost their deposits.
AIMIM’s candidate in Mir Zulfezar Ali from Charminar, Mohammed Mubeen from Bahadurpura, Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala from Malakpet, Mohammed Majid Hussain from Nampally , Jaffar Hussain from Yakutpura (where lowest voter turnout was registered in the elections in the state), and Kausar Mohiduddin from Karwan were retained their seats.
However, the party lost in Rajendranagar (M Swamy Yadav) and Jubilee Hills (Mohammed Rashed Farazuddin) assembly constituencies.
The party had won seven seats in the 2018 Assembly polls in Telangana.
