Bhopal: The Department of Psychiatry, AIIMS Bhopal, in collaboration with the Indian Association for Social Psychiatry (IASP), College of Nursing, AIIMS Bhopal, and Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, is organizing a public seminar and community event on the theme “Shades of Geriatric Mental Health from the Lens of Social Psychiatry.”
The program will take place on 9th July 2025 (Wednesday) from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Avritti Bhawan, Manav Sangrahalaya, Bhopal. Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, will be the Chief Guest, while Prof. (Dr.) Vijender Singh, Head of the Psychiatry Department, will chair the event.
A panel discussion will focus on the social psychiatry perspective of elderly mental health. Prof. Amitabh Pandey, Director of Manav Sangrahalaya, emphasized that the event aims to explore psychological, social, and cultural aspects affecting mental health in old age, while encouraging dialogue between experts, caregivers, and citizens.
PRO Hemant Bahadur Singh Parihar added that the seminar will highlight barriers to mental healthcare and explore solutions through the lens of social psychiatry. Entry to the museum will be free for all participants.
