Bhopal: Dr. Varun Malhotra, Additional Professor in the Department of Physiology at AIIMS Bhopal, conducted a special invited session at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry. The programme, organised by the Advanced Centre for Yoga Therapy, Education and Research (ACYTER) under the leadership of Dr. Basanta Manjari, saw enthusiastic participation from faculty members, resident doctors, and students.
Titled “Neurophysiology of Meditation: A Guided Session for Enhancing Mind–Body Integration,” the session combined scientific insights with practical experience. It began with a peace invocation, followed by an introduction to the science behind meditation, guidance on posture and alignment, cosmic chants, and a 15–20 minute guided meditation. Participants also engaged in visualization-based relaxation and healing prayers for collective well-being.
Dr. Malhotra effectively blended neurophysiology, yogic principles, and mind–body techniques to explain how meditation reduces stress, sharpens mental clarity, and improves overall health. He emphasized that adopting scientifically validated meditation practices can significantly enhance emotional stability and daily quality of life.
